1. Introduction

Welcome to China SOS . We respect your privacy and personal safety. This policy explains how we handle information related to you when you use this app.

China SOS is an unofficial utility. It does not submit reports to law enforcement or any government agency, and it does not operate any proprietary emergency or incident-reporting channel. It only helps you open the system Phone and Messages apps to reach publicly listed emergency and public-service numbers yourself—the same as dialing manually.

Geographic scope: Emergency numbers in this app (e.g. 110, 120, 12110) are for mainland China only. Use this app while you are in China. Outside China, these numbers may not connect or may not provide emergency services where you are. This app is not a substitute for local emergency services in the United States or other countries. It is intended primarily for international visitors and expats in mainland China.

By using this app, you have read and agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the app.

2. What We Process and Why

This app is designed primarily for on-device use: your presets, emergency profile, contacts, on-site audio memos, photos, and similar data are stored on your phone or tablet by defaultWe do not upload this content to servers we operate for storage or analysis (unless a future version clearly offers separate “cloud sync” or similar features—we would update this policy and obtain any required consent).

To provide the following features, the app processes the following on your device:

  1. Location

With your permission, used to display or attach your current address during emergency call or SMS help flows, so you can tell an operator or your contacts where you are. Location is used per system settings and for the current session; we do not operate a backend database to collect your location historyThe app does not send GPS or location data to any law-enforcement or government authority. In the English interface, the app may read a Chinese address aloud (text-to-speech) once for your convenience; you can tap “Listen again” to replay.

  2. Microphone and audio

With your permission and when you actively use on-site memo recording, to save short audio memos on your device (or where you export them).

  3. Camera and photo library

With your permission, to take on-site photos and, if you allow, save them to your system photo library. Files are managed by your device and the system.

  4. Contact-related information (if you enter it)

You may voluntarily enter emergency contact names and phone numbers for quick reach or SMS presets. This information is stored locally for your use in emergencies.

  5. Device and purchase-related information (from the system or store)

When you make an in-app purchase (e.g. one-time unlock) through the Apple App Storepayment and order validation are handled by Apple under its privacy policy; we do not receive your full payment card number. We may only learn necessary purchase status (e.g. whether you have unlocked) through the platform to enable features.

  6. Crash and diagnostics (if added in the future)

If a future version uses third-party crash analytics (e.g. Firebase), we will name the provider, data collected, and how to opt out in this policy. If the current version does not include this, the in-app notice prevails.
